Laundry Board

While I tackle the end of my Spring Cleaning list, I thought I'd leave you with a quick project I completed to help keep Bob and I on top of our most hated chore, laundry.

The washer and dryer live in our cave of a basement and I'm not likely to head down there without specific purpose. It's incredibly easy to pitch a load of laundry into the washer and forget about it. Next thing I know I run down to start another load and open the washer to find a stinking mildewy mess. Ugh. So I start the washer again and, you guessed it, forget it again.

Enter the Laundry Board!

I started with a cheap-o bulletin board.

I'm not crazy about the frame but I wanted this project finished; I can always swap out or paint the frame later. (Thank you, God, for changing my perfectionist heart!)

Because I am crafty but not artistic I printed out pictures of a hamper, a washer and dryer, and a basket of clean clothes to trace.

A black sharpie worked fine for drawing on the cork; I was thankful to not have to paint these lines.

After the board itself was finished I created some shirt-shaped push pins by adhering some fabric scraps to cardstock and gluing the little cardstock/fabric cutouts to a pin.

The end!

Now, Bob and I can move the pins to note where the laundry is in the process of dirty, washed, dried, and ready to be put away. I hung the board on our basement door for easy at-a-glance access.

Here's to no more mildew laundry!
